I created the TEXTS series of acrylic paintings in 2023 , when I was 94 years old. The series was inspired by news of persistent world chaos. As I reflected upon the sad state of the world, I remembered the Genesis story of the Tower of Babel. In that story, we are told that at first, people lived in harmony, but when they built a tower tall enough to reach the sky, God destroyed the tower and caused mankind no longer to speak a common language or understand one another. The TEXTS paintings, created via the ancient art of stenciling, present texts, including Arabic ones, in a manner that makes the texts barely comprehensible.
